As a Senior Digital Designer at Blue Chip, I worked directly with the UX and development team to redesign the Real Techniques digital brand. Our challenge was to develop a fully responsive e-commerce experience that promoted product sales while maintaining the high-end, professional feel of the brand, then translate that look to all elements of the brand's digital presence.
Unlike projects I'd worked on in the past, we decided to tackle this redesign live in the browser. I worked closely with the dev team to quickly test navigation and sorting functions, then refine based on feedback. This allowed our client to respond to the overall experience, not just static visuals.
I wanted the shopping experience to be clean and customizable, but also needed to build in flexibility for future product lines. With these parameters in mind, we developed a multifaceted sorting system that gave users complete control. Visitors could filter their selection beyond traditional parameters, allowing them to easily find the brushes for specific looks or makeup types. Our structure also allows for the easy addition of products and sorting categories.
While e-commerce was a main focus of this redesign, I also needed to make sure the brand's vast library of makeup tutorials was easy to scan. I utilized the same sorting functionality to allow visitors to 'shop' the video section and quickly narrow down videos by subject matter. This setup allowed users to sort by branded categories, as well as individual product used.
This bold, minimal redesign led the evolution of all other branded digital elements, including social posts, social skins, and email templates.
